Mad Max: Fury Road Release Date Confirmed – ManlyMovie

Mad Max: Fury Road Release Date Confirmed

We can confirm today via Village Roadshow that Mad Max: Fury Road will release in north America on May 15th 2015.  Filming started in 2012 in Namibia, Africa, and final shooting will commence tomorrow in Australia.  Why the delay?  Well apart from freak weather conditions in Australia for the original shoot forcing production to move to Africa, there were also reportedly problems in Africa too of a more human nature:

ManlyMovie is hearing is that the shooting due in November is no mere directorial tinkering, but the finishing of a movie shut down by Warner Bros last year, who had said ‘enough’ and pulled the plug when the movie wasn’t wrapped on schedule.  This was, allegedly, in no small part down to ‘unhappy’ cast members (read: Tom Hardy) who were walking on and off set like production was a holiday resort, contributing to delayed shooting.

As mentioned two additional weeks of filming will commence tomorrow in Australia, so the movie isn’t fully even in the can yet.  Another big contributor to the delay is a planned 3D conversion, and those can take months alone to complete.  This delay doesn’t seem like positive news to me, 2015 is jam packed with gargantuan family-friendly blockbusters.  The chances of this going PG-13 have just gone up a little.  One thing though, AICN associate Robert Burnett is claiming via Twitter that the movie is impressive nonetheless…

I spoke with someone last weekend…who is…familiar…with the film…and he says George Miller knocked FURY ROAD outta’ the park.
