For years Dolph Lundgren has been trying to get his pet project, Skin Trade, off the ground and into production. Now in some cases delay’s are a bad sign but in this case the delay’s are down to Dolph’s determination to not phone it in. He wants to get it right. Today (well actually yesterday) marks the date when it has actually happened, as it’s now filming with Ekachai Uekrongtham directing. The movie is about an NYC detective (Lundgren) whose wife is killed by a sex-trafficking Serbian crime lord. Lundgren heads to Bangkok for revenge and to bring him down, where he teams up with a Thai detective (Tony Jaa).
By all accounts this could be Dolph Lundgren’s biggest (personal) project ever. It’s not another filler DTV movie and is being handled with intent and care. Along with Jaa and Dolph the movie will also star Ron Perlman and Peter Weller. These are good actors with Weller in particular being a fussy man to get a hold of.
Here’s an update from Tony Jaa’s Facebook.
