Expendables 3 Director Confirmed For ‘Raid’ Remake

We mentioned a while back that Patrick Hughes was ‘in talks’ to direct a remake of The Raid but that it hadn’t yet been confirmed.  Today it has been confirmed. “Brad Ingelsby (Out of the Furnace, Run All Night) is writing the screenplay, based on Gareth Evans‘ 2012 action epic The Raid: Redemption. The original, which starred Iko Uwais and Joe Taslim, followed a group of Jakarta cops who stage a raid on a 30-story building filled with deadly criminals.”

The fight choreographers from the original movie will return and Gareth Evans himself is returning as producer.  Chris and Liam Hemsworth are rumored to be starring.

Something interesting is that Stallone said he was going to attempt to ‘out-Raid the Raid’ in The Expendables 3.  And indeed in our screenplay review for The Expendables 3, we noted that (for better or worse) the finale will be compared to The Raid.  Has Patrick Hughes done a good job imitating it after all?  Have certain bigwigs seen early footage?

Our poll of readers recently turned out to be negative though with 40/60 being for and against this respectively.  At any rate… we’ll keep track of it.
