Rumor: Mad Max: Fury Road Test Screening Is PG-13

We have a rumor to pass on here today.  The source is ‘Anonymous’, so take with a grain of salt.  Supposedly the latest cut of Mad Max: Fury Road is together and will have a test screening this week, today in fact, in Los Angeles.

Studio bigwigs were previously shown a version of the movie last summer/autumn but now the ‘final’ cut or something resembling it is being attached to reels privately today.

What’s interesting is that they’re bringing in specific ages, allegedly, and the minimum age is 13.  The maximum age is 54.  Now I don’t know why the maximum age would specifically be 54 but I think the minimum age speaks for itself here – this movie will likely be PG-13.  My guess is that this could be legit and that they’re guinea-pigging their target demographics here.  Well that’s what a test screening is for, after all.  When you’re trying to sell a movie to kids and the family, you probably might want to see what they dig and don’t dig. It’s just good business sense. The movie is allegedly 160+ minutes in its current incarnation, they probably have plenty of room to move – plenty of footage to axe?

This shouldn’t surprise anyone.  The movie is a very large production and is getting the usual big league treatment, 3D conversion etc.  Way back, we noted that this movie had 27 children added to the cast, late in production as filming was completed in Australia.  So although arguably the first two movies might have narrowly missed the ‘R’ cut in this day in age, I’m getting some negative Thunderdome waves here.

Of course, it could all be bullshit… but…
