Good to see Tommy Lee Jones return to the western genre. And also good to see him return to the director’s chair. This year he’ll star in and direct ‘The Homesman’.
The Homesman follows pioneer woman Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank), who with the help of a claim jumper (Jones), escorts three insane women across Nebraska territory. Jones’ life is spared from hanging in return for escorting the women across dangerous territory.
The screenplay, also written by Jones, is adapted from the novel of the same name by Glendon Swarthout. The movie is expected to make its debut at Cannes.
