Release Date Set For London Has Fallen (2015)

Some changes have been made to London Has Fallen, the sequel to the excellent Olympus Has Fallen (Review).  Originally, the movie was supposed to star Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman, with an early May shooting date for Bulgaria.

Well since then Morgan Freeman has dropped out of the project, distribution has moved from LionsGate to Focus Features and shooting has been delayed to an unknown date in an unknown location (to me right now).  However it doesn’t mean the movie is in jeopardy, the opposite in fact.

Today new distributors Focus have confirmed that the movie will hit theaters October 2nd, 2015… marking another big movie to the 2015 lineup.  The movie see’s Butler’s Mike Banning head to the UK to attend the funeral of the British Prime Minister and shortly after, things go awry…

Mike Banning with Eckhart’s head of state, Benjamin Asher.  The newly revealed synopsis sees the Americans and other foreign dignitaries in London to attend the funeral of the British Prime Minister (who apparently doesn’t even get the opportunity to survive terrorists).  When a new plot to assassinate the world leaders crops up, only Banning, Asher, and an MI-6 agent can put a stop to it.
