David Ayer Says Fury Isn’t A Typical WW2 Movie

The director and writer of Sabotage (2014) has a WW2 movie coming out this winter.  “Fury” was also written by David Ayer and directed by the same.  The movie sees Brad Pitt as a tank commander lead his men into enemy territory in Germany in the last days of WW2

Recently he has spoken about the movie and has said it is not a typical WW2 movie.

“At this stage of the war (April 1945) we were the invaders, instead of the liberators – which is a different dynamic from any World War II movie I’ve ever seen.  It’s a bit of an allegory, obviously, to some wars we’re involved with today, when you’re dealing with total fanaticism.  Even a child can be an enemy”

Ayer is referring to the idea of a grey area premise, which suits his typically realist approach to movies.  And that’s sure how it came across in the very good screenplay we reviewed.  Pitt in particular is not your average John Wayne style war hero, which may just equal out the fact that it’s Brad Pitt and he’s the only real thing I’d personally dislike about the movie.

We are really looking forward to this one.  It even has a real Tiger tank making its debut.
