After some misfires here and there with directors dropping out and some mild delays along with Butler getting quite busy on other movies, filming has commenced on the sequel to manly Die Hard clone “Olympus Has Fallen”. Although we did not really doubt that the production would go ahead since construction began on “huge” sets at Nu Boyana in August according to our source there, so big that they really couldn’t turn back.
The movie is “London Has Fallen”. The official synopsis?
“The story begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has died in mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the western world.
“But what starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate every known landmark in the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future.
“Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable Secret Service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.”
Producers are Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel, John Thompson, Les Weldon, and Mark Gill. London Has Fallen gets a wide October 2nd theatrical release, 2015. Expect a hard-R rating too. Filming will take place in both London and Bulgaria. Babak Najafi directs this one.
