The Crow Remake Gets New Director

The Crow remake is still happening, and now it has a new director  Relativity Studios has been developing a new adaptation of the James O’Barr graphic novel for a while now, initially setting Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to direct, followed by J. Javier Gutierrez when he dropped out.  A number of actors have been linked to the project over the years, from Bradley Cooper to Tom Hiddleston to James McAvoy.  Nearly two years ago, with Gutierrez attached to direct, the studio finally signed Luke Evans as the new lead.  Word has been quiet on the project as of late, but now we have confirmation that it is indeed still in the works, albeit with another new director: Corin Hardy.

Gutierrez dropped out of The Crow remake after he signed on to helm the next installment of The Ring franchise.  Subsequently, Relativity has now tapped Corin Hardy to take the helm.  Hardy has experience in the music video world, having helmed videos for artists like Ed Sheeran and The Prodigy, and he came to prominence after crafting the animated short Butterfly.  He’s already made his live-action feature debut on the horror film The Hallow, and Deadline notes that it was actually Edgar Wright who recommended Hardy for The Crow gig to producer Edward R. Pressman, who also produced the 1994 original film.
