McTiernan Talks Clear/Discernable Film Making
After yesterday’s story of Olivier Megaton supposedly making a visualized mess of his movies (surprising no-one), it’s funny that a new interview with John McTiernan surfaces where he talks about the importance of visual (and narrative) continuance and integrity.

This video reminds me of a 20 minute take down of Christopher Nolan’s incapability to shoot a coherent action scene, by Jim Emerson. If you watch both videos you can clearly see the gulf of skill between both directors. McTiernan is working in an entirely separate league, getting the basics right but also lacing them with clever nuances.
