Ford Confirmed For Blade Runner 2, Villeneuve Speaks

UPDATED:  Here is a quick update on Blade Runner 2, since the good news below that Harrison Ford will return in the movie.  Director Denis Villeneuve has spoken with The National Post about the gig and says he’s been keen to tackle the sci-fi genre for a long time:

“People were asking me, what do you want to do? I said science fiction, always science fiction. I’m dreaming to do science fiction since a very long time. So now that the door is open, I’m just jumping into it. My soul will be filled if I do that… I’m ready to do it because the original ‘Blade Runner’ is by far one of my favourite movies of all time. ‘Blade Runner’ is almost a religion for me.”

Denis Villeneuve by the way was the director of Prisoners, a good movie which I rated highly, Hugh Jackman’s passenger seat car rage was manly as fuck, finally Jackman looked like a boss.

Previously: Good news if you’re a Blade Runner fan.  And let’s face it, are you a real manly man if you’re not? Harrison Ford will return as Deckard in a sequel that is indeed moving forward.  Says AICN;

Turns out Harrison Ford is locked and loaded to return as Deckard and he’s pumped for it, too, according to Ridley Scott who said Hampton Fancher and Michael Green’s script impressed the notoriously grumpy actor. He even went so far as to call it the best script he’d ever read.

Scott will not be helming this time, though. Instead Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve is close enough to signing that Alcon has gone ahead and announced him.

If this was 1995 instead of 2015, maybe it would be bigger news if Ford as ‘impressed’, but the man would sign on for a floor polish ad these days, if they asked him.  Still… Blade Runner fucking two!  I gotta watch the original again soon, it’s been a while.
