José Padilha, better known as the director of Elite Squad and Sony Pictures’ RoboCop reboot, has signed on to direct Mindcorp, a science fiction thriller in development through Warner Bros. Pictures and Gianni Nunnari’s Hollywood Gang. The plot, which is largely being kept under wraps, comes from an unpublished story written by Padilha and involves next-generation mind-body experimentation and a priest who becomes responsible for the survival of humanity. Dwain Worrell (Walking the Dead) is in talks to adapt the tale for the screen.
Warner Bros executives Jon Berg and Jon Gonda are overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. Shannon Gaulding is overseeing for Hollywood Gang.
I was going to say hopefully it’s better than RoboCop, a movie I really, really did not like (also see PvtCaboose’s ruthless takedown of the movie here) but I think we might need to remember that that project was severely fucked by committee interference before the damned suit was even finished.
So possible one to watch out for.
