William Fichtner Cast In Independence Day Sequels

William Fichtner has joined the cast of Independence Day 2.

That first movie was seriously impressive, so news of a sequel is always interesting.  He has signed with Fox to play a top general in that film and take an even larger role in the two films that will follow.  Jeff Goldblum and Vivica A. Fox will also return to the series.

Will Smith, having asked for too much money, will not.

Roland Emmerich returns to direct.  The film is scheduled for a June 24, 2016 release. Filming began on April 20, 2015.  The films will take place twenty years after the original, when reinforcements of the original alien race arrive at Earth after finally receiving a distress call.

One would have to presume they are not best pleased…
