Top Five: Worst Manly Movie Game Adaptations

5) Cliffhanger – SNES

Cliffhanger was one of the movies to see (alongside Demolition Man).  As was the style at the time for manly men (and manly kids), once you’d seen the movie, you’d seek it out on a gaming platform.  This was normal because back then movie adaptations were usually… not bad.  But even the most ardant VHS actioner afficionado couldn’t excuse this kick in the balls.

The first problem is that the large graphics representation of Stallone looks like Jay Leno, and that’s just not right.  Then the game itself, not just uninspired but among the earliest of games that induced serious and violent rage-quitting.  The controls were DOA, they took a vacation while your ass was being pummelled by the endless hordes of indestructible enemies.  Fighting back was futile – and the movie wasn’t even a fighting movie!  The only good thing about the game was the cover on the plastic box.
