Gervais Says Academy Awards Are Racist

There is an old tactic for comedians who cannot make anyone laugh, insult people who deserve it.  Ricky Gervais struggles even there though, and goes for notoriety by insulting people everyone likes instead.  But I digress.  Now Gervais is getting serious and lamenting how many white nominees are lined up for an Oscar or a shot at an Oscar.

‘Why did the Oscars announce all the white nominees first?’ the four-time Golden Globes host tweeted to his 10.5M followers.

After social justice hero Gervais took an unexpected backlash, he then announced that he was ‘only joking’.  ‘My Twitter seems to have turned into an automatic press release. I’d better start watching what I say. Only joking.’  Yeah, right.  Of course you were.  Ricky Gervais was trying to get a leg up, get higher on the Hollywood ladder.

I wonder when Ricky Gervais is going to take a ‘joke’ shot at the ethnicity of producers in that industry?  Oh, what’s that?  He knows better than that?  I see.
