So they probably missed their chance to do an Expendables movie together (perhaps Kurt Russell was correct to turn that series down) but it appears as though Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell may still work together… on television!
Mel Gibson will write and direct “The Barbary Coast”.
Inspired by the book of the same name from Gangs of New Yorkauthor Herbert Asbury, The Barbary Coast begins with the Gold Rush of 1849, which saw the biggest influx of gold-seekers, gamblers, thieves, harlots, politicians and other felonious parasites to the infant city of San Francisco. A unique criminal district subsequently arose that, for almost 70 years, was the scene of more viciousness and depravity — yet at the same time possessed more glamor and intrigue — than any other area of vice and iniquity on the American continent.
Gibson will also co-write. We can be sure that this will have some muscle behind it and Jesus, almost sounds too good to be true!

Tequila Sunrise was their best and only film together. Mad max and Snake Plissken together in one great film for the first time. Both men also worked with the same directors like Ron Howard and Roland Emmerich. I found out kurt Russell was offered the Martin Riggs role in lethal weapon which went to Mel Gibson. That would have been good but Kurt russell as Gabriel Cash was just as good as Mel Gibson as Martin Riggs.

Sunrise was a decent film (script wise) but so fucking boring and no action.

It’s still a masterpiece rated r and all. It had action with explosions and gunfights. It wasn’t boring, expendables 3 was. Expendables 3 should have been like tequila sunrise. What do you know mr. I hate anyone who sells out and does a pg13 action movie like Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Sounds good…Deadwood but more upscale? .Hope this happens. Anyone remember a series from the seventies with William Shatner and Doug McClure called Barbary Coast.? Trampas & The Shat are an iconic team too…sort of.
