Spielberg Shits On Superhero Movies

Steven-Spielberg-550x366

Some time ago Steven Spielberg suggested that movies featuring dudes on steroids standing in leotards in front of green screens were going to implode and go away.  In the meantime while we wait on that, Spielberg has been talking about this ‘genre’ again with omelette.

There is a difference between heroes and superheroes. A hero is an ordinary person who is faced with a serious problem and acts. A hero is a person who, walking down the street, sees a car on fire and runs to help the person who is in the driver’s seat, to get them out of their seat belt. A super-hero is a person who, at the same scene, would fly to the car and try to turn it upside down and shake it using his super strength, until the driver falls out. I identify more with the first example. Film everyday heroes.

Well, whatever your opinion on this individual, I found his recent movie, Bridge of Spies, a welcome counterweight to monotonous, vacuous DC/Marvel baked turds.  Old school spy craft, probably too boring for girlie men comic book fanboys, if you ask me.
