McConaughey Back For True Detective?

True Detective had a very cool first series, but a poor second series.  One person who might get involved in making the third series good again could be Matthew McCounaghey.

Appearing on The Rich Elsen Show (via EW), McConaughey was asked about the series and revealed that he’s talked to creator Nic Pizzolatto about potentially returning to the role at some point:

“It would have to be the right context, the right way. I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching ‘True Detective’ on Sunday nights. I was a happy man when we made that for six months… You’re actually getting better quality dramas on the small screen today than you ever have been. A lot better than the big screen sometimes.”

Keep in mind though that Pizzolatto himself is not returning.
