Kevin Smith: You Better Appreciate Comic Movies, Even Bad Ones

Here I was thinking that the current scourge of leotard movies was becoming too much, to the point where even the critically praised ones are getting undue accolades next to the ones from even the mid-late ’00s.  Well, Kevin Smith says that not only must you appreciate those movies, you’d better also love the ones that everyone dislikes too.

He says (via ComicBook.com):

“It [Luke Cage] was fucking good. I had no expectations of that and they told a much better story than I thought they would. I mean we live in a world were they are making a fucking Ant-Man sequel. We didn’t have this shit when I was growing up. Creation path is wide open, man. We should appreciate it. It is easy to pay to see a movie, shit on it, and be negative – but I am on the other side of this… As you sit around taking a shit on things, the world is passing you by. There is no good reason to do it. You try to ascend in life and people try to drag you down. I guess misery loves company. There will be always people to shit on things. I just think about being that 10 year-old dreaming that people would make these films and now they are so be happy.”

Laughable.  ‘Let’s not critisize anything, ever‘.  If ever there was code or conduct that one could live by, surely this is it!
