4) Sudden Impact (1983)
Perhaps arguing for my case that The Enforcer was the weakest of the series, Sudden Impact had the longest delay as a follow up in the series, a seven year gap.
Now even that said, I know some are going to dispute which movie should come fourth and third. But for me it’s Sudden Impact. I like this one, directed by Clint himself and starring Eastwood’s girl Sondra Locke, but I have to be in a certain mood to watch it.
I have to say, this movie is kind of depressing. The villains are a different kind of nasty, it seems quite dark (literally a lot of night work) and I kind of feel too much distress on behalf of the female victim without an overly satisfactory payoff.
But I think there is no such thing as a bad Eastwood movie and, of course, he shares some charisma with Locke. The movie also features the line ‘Make my day’, used by Ronald Reagan himself.
