UPDATED:  I was browsing Chief Seagal’s forums this morning and happened to stumble upon an update.  User Dida was in contact with producers and was told by them the following;

Attrition IS HAPPENING! They are in early pre-production now and the movie should shoot in Thailand the first quarter of this year. They are looking into Sensei Seagal’s schedule towards him directing. The producers hope he will direct. Attrition will be a serious martial arts movie with some drama and the occasional ironic humour, what audiences want from a Seagal movie. They are casting now and the only one confirmed for now is Steven Seagal.

Now I also now why Kaos isn’t responding to me anymore. I asked about Kaos’ involvement and it seems they are still talking to him about his involvement in this project. It all depends on schedules. I also asked about the budget and the producer confirmed to me that Attrition will have a bigger budget compared to Seagal’s dtv movies!! They also want to make more movies with Seagal in Asia, but the focus is now on Attrition.

So fear not, men.  Although we haven’t heard much about it recently, the big guy is still on track to take command and direct some badass shit!  No more hacks who can’t get the job done, when you need it done right, you do it yourself.

PREVIOUSLY: Just when you thought that movies starring Steven Seagal were good enough, then comes some news that Sensei will write and even direct one too.  This past week Free-Press-Release revealed that Steven Seagal was ‘ to direct and star in action film,Attrition’.

Now they didn’t give any details beyond that, but a while back Chief Seagal stated the following; I’ve written something called ATTRITION, which kind of reminds me of a [Akira] Kurosawa movie. I’m hoping to make that soon, maybe in China, maybe in Hong Kong, maybe in Thailand. We’ve got a lot of great offers out there. We’re going to be getting real busy this year.

Real busy indeed.  Steven Seagal has been making a lot of movies of late but it’ll be interesting to see him take command of one himself again.

Does anyone remember Seagal’s first directorial effort?  Fighting and defeating a bear.  Now that is manly.
