Jericho is finally getting a Blu-Ray release. But in Germany only, so far. Both the first and second season will release there next month on the 14th. So if you own a region free player you’re probably going to want to pick this one up.
I don’t know if a lot of people liked this series, but the first season to me was some of the best television of the 2000s.
The series is set in a small American town, during and right after a massive and sustained nuclear attack on the country. Through geographical luck the townspeople realize they’ve missed the blasts (but not the fallout) but quickly realize that the United States is history, beyond the town’s perimeter is descending quickly into The Road/Mad Max territory… and their town is full of food and other goodies.
It’s kind of like what The Walking Dead has tried and failed to be for the past 5+ years. It’s been ten years since I’ve watched it, I remember it being very good, until maybe the last 10%, then the second season being poor.
If you’re going into this one for the first time, avoid all spoilers of any kind. In light of ongoing political events and the fact that we’re closer to nuclear war than in over 50 years, this might be a good one to revisit.
