News: The Purge, Equalizer, Escape Plan 3

This movie is still happening.  And in fact, Sony Pictures have announced that the Antoine Fuqua-directed sequel starring Denzel Washington is set to be released a month earlier – now on August 10th next year.  That looks to give it some easy competition, unless the Scarface remake is any good.

The Purge 4
Another one of these movies is coming, but not really part ‘4’, it’s going to be a prequel.  Y’lan Noel and Lex Scott Davis are going to star in the new Universal and Blumhouse entry.

Gerard McMurray will direct from a script by James DeMonaco. The story is set on Staten Island and explores the first experimental Purge, including how America got to such a dark place. The film opens July 4th next year.

Escape Plan 3
Jaime King and Max Zhang have joined the cast of the third movie in this series. King is reprising her role of Abigail Ross from the upcoming second film.

It’s currently filming with Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista at the old Shawshank Redemption prison location.  For those wondering, it appears Arnold Schwarzenegger has dropped out of this series entirely.

Escape Plan was his best movie in years, I don’t know why he went for stuff like ‘Gunther’ instead…
