They’re Re-Releasing The Commodore 64

Not movie news as such, but… they’re re-releasing the Commodore 64 in mini form.  It’ll plug into your TV via HDMI and even comes with the old joystick.

A full sized version is planned for a later release.  Some games will come pre-loaded on it, including: AlleyKat, Anarchy, Armalyte: Competition Edition, Avenger, Battle Valley, Bounder, California Games, Chip’s Challenge, Confuzion, Cosmic Causeway: Trailblazer II, Creatures, Cyberdyne Warrior, Cybernoid II: The Revenge, Cybernoid: The Fighting Machine, Deflektor, Everyone’s A Wally, Firelord, Gribbly’s Day Out, Hawkeye, Heartland, Herobotix, Highway Encounter, Hunter’s Moon, Hysteria, Impossible Mission, Impossible Mission II, Insects In Space, Mega-Apocalypse, Mission A.D, Monty Mole, Monty on the Run, Nebulus, Netherworld, Nobby the Aardvark, Nodes Of Yesod, Paradroid, Pitstop II, Rana Rama, Robin Of The Wood, Rubicon, Skate Crazy, Skool Daze, Slayer, Snare, Speedball, Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe, Spindizzy, Star Paws, Steel, Stormlord, Street Sports Baseball, Summer Games II, Super Cycle, Temple of Apshai Trilogy, The Arc Of Yesod, Thing Bounces Back, Thing on a Spring, Trailblazer, Uchi Mata, Uridium, Who Dares Wins II, Winter Games, World Games, and Zynaps.

Commodore cassettes went right alongside VHS cassettes, this should be very nostalgic.  And many of them were movie tie-ins.  One of the best…

Quoting Denis Hopper here… very exciting, Jack!

I still have my Commodore 128 from back in the day 😀

Haha that’s awesome but an odd decision. I can’t imagine many would be sold. Who is the target audience? 80’s throwbacks like us? I used to play the C64 at my friend’s house 2-3 times a week as I only had a ZX Spectrum 🙁 Operation Wolf, Op. Thunderbolt, Robocop, Predator, Rambo III, Cabal, Bushido, ISS Football, etc were kick ass games before I got my Sega Master System and moved onto console. Cool shit.

They might make $30 with this release. Exciting stuff.

Mum and dad bought me and my brother a Commodore 64 in summer ’85 and we had it till 1994 or 1995 when we binned it. The last time I used it was when I played International Karate with my cousins.

I wanted it but got an Atari xe instead and that sucked worst game play ever

I think you can’t install more games on it, which is a shame. My original C64 still works so…no biggie.
