Crowe Hints At Master & Commander Sequel

Russell Crowe has been on Twitter hinting at a sequel to 2003 sea-faring adventure Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World.

The synopsis for the original movie: In 1805, aboard the H.M.S. Surprise, the brash Captain Jack Aubrey (Russell Crowe) and his trusted friend, the ship’s scholarly surgeon, Stephen Maturin (Paul Bettany), are ordered to hunt down and capture a powerful French vessel off the South American coast. Though Napoleon is winning the war and the men and their crew face an onslaught of obstacles, including their own internal battles, “Lucky Jack” is determined that nothing will stop the Surprise from completing its mission.

Took me a couple of viewings to get into the original movie, but I’m not sure where they could go with a sequel…

  • Jacob Phillips

I for one would really like to see this happen. Isn’t the film based on a novel from a pretty long running series?

    • Jack Caine

Yeah, Patrick O’Brian wrote about 20 of these books. The first movie was a good adaptation and one of the best Napoleonic War flicks of recent years. It’s about time they adapted the rest of the series.

  • Yea, I’d like to see this, but I thought a direct sequel was set up really well with the original. I guess it’d have to be based another “chapter”.

  • French Predator

    This flick sucked.
