Strikeback (2018) Trailer

There is a trailer online for the ten-episode fifth season of Strikeback.  An outline the the semi ‘reboot’…

Tasked with covert military intelligence and high-risk operations, the resurrected unit embarks on a lethal manhunt that will uncover a vast web of interconnected criminal activity.

As the team journeys across the Middle East and Europe, they uncover a deadly conspiracy that threatens to overwhelm them all and change the face of modern warfare forever.

Strike Back’s last season concluded in July 2015 on Cinemax, after the network announced that the season would be the show’s final. Before the four original seasons aired on Cinemax, the first season of the franchise, Strike Back: Origins, aired on the U.K.’s Sky1.

The new, revitalized version on Cinemax will star Alin Sumarwata, Daniel MacPherson, Roxanne McKee and Warren Brown. Andy Harries, an alum of the “Strike Back” franchise, brought back the series, which hails from his Left Bank Pictures. Jack Lothian is the writer and showrunner.

They made sure there is an equal amount of females and males in a spec-ops military squad, I wonder if that’s actually the case in the real world? Must be all the systematic patriarchy at play there too.

In “The Last Jedi” there are more females in the Rebellion than men

Looks pretty good. Since Chicago Law did not get renewed maybe we get Philip Winchester back next season, he needs a job now. Blindspot looks like it is fizzling out, so maybe a return of Sullivan Stapleton.

Been wanting to watch this. I’ve heard the current series is not as good as the previous ones featuring Winchester and Stapleton.

You are right. As good as this looks, it will be almost impossible to top the original series, hopefully it does well and there is room to bring them back in a future season…. As long as Disney does not buy CINEMAX as well!!! Then we are fucked . lol

They should do a spin-off movie featuring just Stapleton and Winchester. I’m sure it would sell like hotcakes.

Stapleton and Winchester are basically carrying on the legacy of Bodie & Doyle (The Professionals), Bravo Two Zero (SAS biopic) and Ultimate Force (Ross Kemp). There was also a criminally underrated ITV series in 1989 called Saracen about two members (ex-SAS, ex-Delta Force) of a private security company who often worked in dangerous hot spots across the world. It only lasted one series but had it gone further, I’m sure it would have entered Strike Back territory.
