Ocean’s 8 Stars Want Male Critics Silenced, Male Crew Fired

Cash-in turd Ocean’s 8 has gotten an average (thus highly generous) critical response.  It is sitting at 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.  However, the cast of the movie are not happy that the movie is getting ‘mixed’ reviews.

The problem?  Male critics, y’see.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies, Mindy Kaling called the dominance of white male reviewers ‘unfair’. If I had to base my career on what white men wanted I would be very unsuccessful, so there is obviously an audience out there who want to watch things like [Ocean’s 8], what I work on, what Sarah [Paulson] works on.

Cate Blanchett agrees, saying the media had failed to catch up to film casting when came to gender equality. ‘The conversation has to change,’ she said, ‘and the media has a huge responsibility.’

Actually, Cate, the media has a responsibility to call things down the middle.  And ironically enough, it isn’t, it’s apparently doing what you’re demanding and them some, to their own and everyone else’s detriment.  This film is rotten, but it is being exalted in the altar of lunacy despite being undeserving.  And still this isn’t enough.  Bent reviews aren’t cutting it!  Get extreme.

Gender quotas for film reviewers!

This follows up on an attack by Meryl Streep on Rotten Tomatoes two years ago for not inorganically pandering to feminism.

Elsewhere, Blanchett and Sandra Bullock were again complaining to the BBC, this time about too many men working on the crew of the movie.  They’re going to ‘stop being polite about it’, according to the BBC.  They also want something that is known as ‘inclusion riders’, another name for gender quotas.  That is, there must be ‘equality’ among cast and crew.

This means that someone, somwhere, is going to be put out of a job, so that someone else less deserving might be hired.  But you can bet that neither Bullock nor Blanchett will be the ones to tell male workers on set, to their faces, that they lobbied to get them replaced.
