Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch is in early talks to helm a remake of the Bruce Lee 1973 martial arts manly movie Enter the Dragon for Warner Bros. Pictures. Bold, but I suppose it’s been 45 years and it was going to happen sooner or later.
In the original, Bruce Lee played a martial-arts expert determined to help capture the narcotics dealer whose gang was responsible for the death of his sister. Lee enters a kung fu competition in an attempt to fight his way to the dealer’s headquarters with the help of some friends.
Never mind Lee’s role not being cast yet, there isn’t even a writer. But surely the center role will be the hardest thing to nail. Treading in Lee’s footsteps is like trying to repackage Elvis Presley. It’ll live and die on that piece of casting.
Previously, Brett Ratner and Spike Lee were attached to direct.
