UPDATED: Eh… here’s the teaser trailer for Ghostbusters 3.
Ghostbusters 3 is supposedly going ahead, and will even film this summer, with Jason Reitman, son of Ivan, directing it.
Variety helped break the news, saying Reitman has co-written a screenplay with Gil Kenan and plans to shoot the film this summer ahead of a Summer 2020 release. It also indicates the film will be a continuation of the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel and will not be connected to the 2016 reboot.
Reitman says: “I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans. This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
Clearly, Dan Aykroyd will be on board, probably without even reading the script. But does any of this really matter at this stage?
