People have been wondering on and off how long superhero movies can continue before fatigue sets in. Even Steven Spielberg. Well Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is boasting to Variety that no end is in sight:
“Not only has there not been the quote-unquote superhero fatigue that people have been asking me about since years before ‘Iron Man,’ but here we are having our biggest year ever. Our instincts have always guided us, and the successes have always just encouraged us to keep following those instincts.”
He’s probably not joking about it being the biggest year ever for superhero movies. This year there’ll be 11 major leotard movies. In 2013 I complained about there being one every three months. Now we’re approaching one ever single month.
Long gone are the days of John Woo making blockbusters with Nicolas Cage and especially of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger ruling the roost.
