RESIDENT EVIL CASTS ANOTHER ORIGINAL

The new Resident Evil movie from Constantin Films appears keen to head back into 1980s/1990s zombie horror territory, as opposed to the kitsch trash direction Paul W.S. Anderson took it.  Donal Logue (Gotham) has been cast as police chief Brian Irons.

This is another character Anderson’s young crowd probably never heard of, but older fans will remember his first appearance in Resident Evil 2.  In fact that was his only appearance.

The new movie is based on the original game, but appears to be drawing in elements from the second game as well.  While original protagonist Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell) and his sister Claire Redfield (Kaya Scoledario).

“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games  and create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time, telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feel both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences, said director Johannes Roberts in a statement.

Better late than never I suppose.
