A new Lethal Weapon with all of the old crew, including the director might seem like something that is too good too be true. And maybe slip back into development hell. Richard Donner though will reassure you.
As part of a recent interview with The Telegraph, the 90-year-old Donner says that it is of course still happening but it will be Riggs and Murtaugh’s final outing, and he’s keen to get to work on it:
“This is the final one. It’s both my privilege and duty to put it to bed. It’s exciting, actually… Hahaha! It’s the last one; I’ll promise you that.”
Same cast, same director… with the writer of the excellent Lethal Weapon 4 returning as well. I’m not sure how this can go wrong. Hopefully this movie and Top Gun: Maverick will raise the stock of old classics getting respectable updates.
