NEWS: BUTLER, SNIPER, YEN, NORRIS, NEW STALLONE ACTION MOVIE

SNIPER

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray Luis Llosa’s action thriller Sniper (1993), starring Tom Berenger, Billy Zane, J.T. Walsh, Aden Young, and Ken Radley. The release will be available for purchase on July 20.

Description: During a mission to kill Panamanian rebel Miguel Alvarez (Frederick Miragliotta), veteran American sniper Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger) loses his partner, Doug Papich (Aden Young), to another assassin’s bullet. Papich’s replacement is sharpshooter Richard Miller (Billy Zane), who is higher ranked than Beckett but has no experience in the field, placing the two men at odds. Dropped into the jungle, the bickering duo have a week to find and kill Alvarez.

Good news, eh?

COPSHOP

Here’s the first look at Gerard Butler in Copshop, an upcoming American action thriller film directed by Joe Carnahan and written by Kurt McLeod and Carnahan, based on a story by McLeod and Mark Williams. The film, which stars Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo and Alexis Louder, is set in a small-town police station that becomes the battleground between a hitman, a rookie cop and a con artist.

The film, shot at the height of the pandemic, is released September 17th.

RAGING FIRE

Here’s the trailer for Raging Fire, starring Donnie Yen. The movie was produced and directed by Benny Chan in his final directorial effort before his death on 23 August 2020.

Synopsis: Cheung Tit-shan is an outstanding officer of the Regional Crime Unit who worked in the front line for many years and cracked many major cases. However, he is seen as an outcast due to his extremely righteous character which affected his career, but his protege, Yau Kong-ngo, respects him as a good officer although Yau does not completely agree with Cheung’s overly hard-boiled style and believes in taking shortcuts. After some years, Yau manage to reach up to Cheung’s level. However, fate unexpectedly brings them to different paths and pits them against one another.

No word on a western release date yet, but it hits in China next month.

LITTLE AMERICA

Sylvester Stallone is going to star in a new action movie called Little America.  It’ll be produced by Michael Bay.

Synopsis: The year is 2028. America as we know it has become bankrupt; many of its citizens have fled overseas to urban metropolises like Hong Kong where “refugees” live in a walled off city within-a-city, alive with bogus chain stores, neon signs and rock music – and other recreated sights and sounds from home. Against this backdrop, a Chinese billionaire hires a former American Force Recon member to rescue his daughter from the neighborhood known as LITTLE AMERICA.

The movie is due to begin filming in September.  Stallone appeared on Instagram this week looking his most muscular in about eight years, hyping some ‘old school action’ coming down the pipe.  Is this what he’s referring to?

CHUCK NORRIS

Anyone looking to meet Chuck Norris?

You might have the opportunity to tomorrow, if you live in Dallas or are willing to travel.  He’ll be at the Dallas Comic Show Saturday Special.  This seems to be a rare appearance for Chuck.
