WILL MEL DIRECT LETHAL FINALE?

After the passing of Richard Donner, it looked like Lethal Weapon 5 (‘Lethal Finale’) was dead in the water.  And that is probably still the case.  However Corey Feldman, friends with the late director recently met with Mel Gibson.  Feldman tells MovieWeb that he’s not entirely convinced the franchise is dead…

So, Mel says to me, ‘Well, you know, people have been saying maybe I should just direct it.’ And I said, ‘You should! That would be great.’ So, who knows. The point of that was, maybe this will encourage Mel to take over the helm and direct Lethal Weapon 5.”

Of course, this is no slouch or cash-in hound.  Gibson is a master director and knows the property inside and out.  It’s just a question of whether or not it would be appropriate, with the absence of Donner, who essentially owned the franchise, or at least the director’s chair for it.

So should Mel direct the fifth film?
