VAN DAMME TO BATTLE PAST FOES IN ONE LAST BIG MOVIE – ManlyMovie

VAN DAMME TO BATTLE PAST FOES IN ONE LAST BIG MOVIE

You could say that Jean Claude Van Damme’s career went a bit timid in recent years (or even decades), although to be fair he’s still been more discerning than some of his peers in his choices.  He may get one last hurrah though.  According to Deadline, Van Damme will star in What’s My Name, where he’ll do battle against past iconic foes from his classic movies.

In the film, Van Damme will play himself. Left in a coma following a serious car accident, he wakes up with amnesia, unrecognizable to everyone, including himself. Through a series of fights against iconic fighters from across his legendary career, Van Damme begins a quest for his own identity and life meaning. This leads him to one final match.

Deadline speculates that among Van Damme’s opponents in the movie will be the likes of Michael Qissi, Bolo Yeung and Dolph Lundgren.  After the movie, Van Damme says he’ll take to the seas in a modest-sized boat, because there’s no need to be an asshole with a big boat, then retire and relax.

Side hope:  It turns out to be Van Damme’s own Rocky Balboa (2006) where, if I remember correctly, Sylvester Stallone was talking about that movie as a last hurrah, but it turned out to be a career jump-starter.
